Pep Guardiola, the Manchester city boss has explained why he substituted a crucial player, Kevin De Bruyne during their Premier League clash with Liverpool on Sunday of which the game ended in a draw 1-1.
The Belgian was subbed off when it remained about 20 minutes of play at Anfield.
He was visibly annoyed at the coach for his decision and was seen discussing with Pep while he sat on the bench.
However, Guardiola revealed he brought on Mateo Kovacic instead to boost his team’s chances of keeping possession.
Asked about De Bruyne’s frustration, Guardiola told Sky Sports: “That is good. Have a chance next game to prove it. We need a player who keeps the ball. It’s not about pressing. Kovacic is really good at that.”
“We were happy with Kevin. It’s not a problem. We’re fine.”
