The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Goa, India, has conducted a raid on a drug syndicate reportedly operated by Nigerian individuals named Stanley and his wife, Usha C.
Amit Ghawate, the Additional Director of NCB Goa, announced these developments in a statement on Thursday. Stanley was apprehended on Wednesday following a comprehensive investigation.
Based on reliable information, the NCB Goa team seized 7.35 grams of cocaine from Raju S, a resident of Saligao, on February 13, 2024.
Ghawate stated, “Upon initial investigation, it was discovered that the apprehended individual was a mere peddler working for a larger drug network managed by Stanley, a Nigerian national, and his wife, Usha C, residing in Candolim.”
Further inquiry revealed that Stanley, the mastermind, had enlisted the help of locals to distribute drugs in bulk to various customers.
On February 16, 2024, NCB Goa arrested another peddler named Michael, a taxi driver from Candolim. Subsequently, NCB raided Stanley’s residence, but he had already been apprehended by Telangana Police in a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case.
Further investigations uncovered Usha C’s active involvement in drug trafficking alongside her husband, managing the profits from the illicit drug network. Usha C was arrested on February 21, 2024, and efforts to identify unlawfully acquired assets by the couple commenced to dismantle the entire drug operation.
As part of the operation, assets valued at Rs 1.06 crore linked to the couple have been frozen.
