Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has provided insight into Erling Haaland’s inability to score against Real Madrid. Haaland had also failed to find the net against the LaLiga giants in previous encounters.
In the recent quarter-final clash, the 23-year-old Norwegian striker was effectively marked by Aurelio Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger, resulting in a 3-3 draw in the first leg.
Guardiola praised the defensive efforts of Tchouameni and Rudiger, acknowledging their role in neutralizing Haaland. He remarked, “We managed to score three goals at the Bernabéu despite Haaland facing close marking from two central defenders.”
Guardiola emphasized that Haaland, being a young player, still has room for improvement, but emphasized that the team’s collective performance is crucial for overall improvement.
