Kenya’s military chief, nine other soldiers killed in helicopter crash

Kenya’s President, William Ruto, announced on Thursday that the country’s Armed Forces Chief, General Francis Ogolla, along with nine other military representatives, tragically perished in a helicopter crash.

The incident occurred in the western part of Kenya, specifically in the Elgeyo Marakwet district, shortly after the helicopter departed from the village of Chesegon. The high-ranking military delegation was visiting Kenyan soldiers in the region at the time of the crash.

President Ruto also declared three days of national mourning in honor of the deceased.

Details regarding the cause of the crash remain unclear, although reports indicate that only two out of the 12 individuals aboard the helicopter survived the accident.
