Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes his team holds a significant psychological advantage over their Premier League title rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.
Currently, Arsenal sits at the top of the table, level on points with Liverpool but leading on goal difference, with Manchester City trailing by one point. Despite City having a game in hand, they are still seen as favorites to secure a fourth consecutive title.
The dynamics of the title race shifted recently when City secured a dominant 5-1 victory over Luton, propelling them to the top, while both Liverpool and Arsenal failed to secure wins against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, respectively.
This week, Arsenal will have the opportunity to play first against Chelsea on Tuesday night, followed by Liverpool’s Merseyside derby against Everton on Wednesday, and City’s match against Brighton on Thursday.
Arteta acknowledges the advantage of playing first, stating that it allows Arsenal to narrow the margins by securing victories before their rivals. He emphasizes the importance of focusing on winning matches and closing the gap, especially since the title race is not entirely within their control.
Arsenal will have the advantage of playing first in two of the remaining four gameweeks, and they also benefit from not playing last in any of them.
