Bayer Leverkusen forward, Victor Boniface, has highlighted the edge manager Xabi Alonso possesses over other top coaches globally. Alonso recently led Die Werkself to their maiden Bundesliga title and has guided them to the final of the DFB Pokal and the semi-final of the UEFA Europa League.
Drawing from Alonso’s illustrious playing career, Boniface emphasized the significant impact the manager’s training sessions have had on the team, noting his exceptional performance in this aspect.
“Imagine you’re training and your coach is doing better than you,” Boniface told AFP in an interview.
“Then you want to step up your game.
“For him to be involved in training gives us a boost.
“Sometimes he tells me of players he played with, with similar abilities to me. He tries to improve me in my weakest areas.”
