Former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar criticized President Bola Tinubu, alleging a conflict of interest due to Tinubu’s son Seyi’s position on the board of CDK Integrated Industries, a subsidiary of the Chagoury Group, which is owned by one of Tinubu’s business associates, Gilbert Chagoury. Atiku claimed that this conflict of interest arises from the Chagoury Group’s involvement in the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project, which Atiku criticized as being hastily awarded and executed in violation of procurement laws.
Atiku, through his Media Adviser Paul Ibe, criticized the federal government and advised Tinubu to prioritize attracting genuine investors rather than relying on propaganda. He pointed out that CDK Integrated Industries specializes in manufacturing ceramic tiles and sanitary towels.
Referring to a report from a Paris-based Africa Intelligence News Agency, Atiku highlighted Seyi’s official business association with Chagoury as per the Corporate Affairs Commission. Atiku asserted that the partnership between Chagoury and Tinubu, confirmed by Seyi’s board position in one of Chagoury’s companies, explains why the Chagoury Group has benefited significantly from Tinubu’s actions.
