Nonsensical behaviour – Joe Igbokwe tackles Aisha Yesufu over “disrespect”

Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has criticized activist Aisha Yesufu for what he described as nonsensical behavior.

Igbokwe accused Yesufu of disrespecting the national anthem, stating that her actions were detrimental to herself and her family.

Yesufu had declined to sing the new national anthem “Nigeria we hail thee” at an event, where she was seen sitting while others stood up to honor and sing the anthem. She was also observed using her phone during the recitation of the anthem.

In response to Yesufu’s actions, Igbokwe took to Facebook to express his disapproval, suggesting that she may not understand the consequences of her behavior.

Recently, President Bola Tinubu signed the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law, reintroducing the old national anthem, “Nigeria we hail thee.”

Tinubu emphasized that the reintroduction of the old national anthem was a priority for him, amidst mixed reactions to the decision.
