Electricity has been restored to parts of Nigeria after striking workers shut down the National grid for two days.
Emeka Ezeh, Head of Corporate Communications at Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, confirmed to DAILY POST on Wednesday that the disco began receiving power from the National grid around 6 pm on Tuesday.
When asked if power had been restored to its franchise areas, he responded affirmatively, stating, “Yes, we are restored. We started receiving power at 18:06 hours yesterday (Tuesday).”
The Transmission Company had earlier announced the gradual restoration of power supply after organized labor suspended its strike action on Tuesday.
Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has also restored supply to customers in Abuja, Nasarawa, and Kogi. Residents in various areas confirmed to DAILY POST that power supply was restored on Tuesday night.
“The power supply resumed around 6 pm on Tuesday. By midnight, the power supply was fully restored,” said Benjamin Okoli, a resident of Kubwa.
The restoration of electricity followed the suspension of the organized labor’s indefinite strike on Tuesday. Earlier, TCN had reported that the striking workers had shut down the National grid, leading to a widespread electricity outage.
