Osun APC disowns ex-governor, Aregbesola

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from former governor Rauf Aregbesola.

In a statement following a stakeholders’ meeting in Osogbo, party Chairman Mr. Tajudeen Lawal cited Aregbesola’s involvement in anti-party activities, including forming factions that work against the party’s interests.

Lawal cautioned members against joining Aregbesola’s group, emphasizing that it is not recognized by the APC.

APC State Secretary Kamoru Alao added that electronic membership registration will commence after the inauguration of a committee by National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje to train local-level trainers.

Alao stated that Aregbesola is no longer considered a member of the APC in Osun State, and the party has informed the national secretariat of his actions.

However, Abosede Oluwaseun, Publicity Secretary of Omoluabi Progressives, rejected the allegations against Aregbesola, claiming that he left the party’s affairs intact when he handed over to his successor. Oluwaseun dismissed attempts to suspend Aregbesola and reiterated the group’s commitment to strengthening the APC to regain power from the Peoples Democratic Party in 2026.
