Aviation Minister raises alarm over begging, extortion at Nigerian International airports

On Sunday, the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, expressed concern over reports of begging and extortion occurring at Nigeria’s international airports by some unscrupulous individuals.

In a post on his official X handle, Keyamo lamented that the actions of staff begging and extorting travelers have tarnished the nation’s image. He mentioned that his phone is constantly receiving messages from concerned citizens about this issue.

Keyamo clarified that “most of the agencies involved in this misconduct are not under the control of the Aviation Ministry, though they are stationed at our airports. However, I have been collaborating closely with other ministers, government branches, and relevant agencies, and a solution is forthcoming.”
