A disconnection notice has been issued to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) due to non-compliance with the Market Rules. This could result in power outages in Abuja, Nasarawa, Niger, and Kogi states.
The notice, signed on Friday by TCN’s Market Operator, Ali Ahmad, states that the disconnection is scheduled for July 28, 2024.
TCN specified that the disconnection will occur at the 33kV feeder from the 132/33kV Katampe 1 Transmission Station and Feeder 3 from the 132/33kV Central Area Transmission Station.
The notice stated, “The Market Operator hereby issues a disconnection order for Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) for its non-compliance with the provisions of the Market Rules. The defaulting Market Participant, AEDC, has been duly notified of their infractions concerning non-compliance with Section 15.3.3.a of the Market Rules. Newspaper publication has been made in line with the application of the Rules, which gives AEDC a deadline of five (5) business days from the date to remedy its Market Rules infractions.”
