President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has claimed that food inflation is decreasing. Onanuga noted that the prices of yam, tomatoes, and other food items have significantly dropped.
In a post on X, he stated, “Food inflation is coming down as prices of yam, tomatoes decline massively.” This comment was in response to a report indicating that the price of a basket of tomatoes has fallen.
According to the report, a large basket of tomatoes at Ketu market is now selling for about N55,000 to N60,000, compared to an average of N150,000 a few months ago.
Onanuga also mentioned that a large basket of habanero pepper (rodo) is currently selling for an average of N25,000, down from N55,000 during the peak of the price increase.
