The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has cautioned motorists against causing traffic congestion while queuing for fuel at filling stations.
LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, issued the warning on Sunday, emphasizing that additional officers have been deployed to monitor traffic near fuel stations. This decision follows reports of long queues where drivers park haphazardly, blocking roads as they wait to buy fuel.
Mr. Bakare-Oki expressed concern over the disruptive behavior of some motorists who queue carelessly, leading to traffic issues around petrol stations. He stressed that the current fuel shortage is not an excuse for obstructing traffic in Lagos.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining smooth traffic flow and urged the public to cooperate with LASTMA to ensure that the government’s ‘T.h.e.m.e.s +’ agenda promotes positive socio-economic growth and safety.
