Nigeria’s oil marketers have reported that the Port Harcourt and Warri depots have received Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
Ukadike Chinedu, the spokesperson for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), made this announcement on Tuesday, as fuel shortages continue to impact Lagos, Abuja, and other cities.
Despite the ongoing fuel scarcity, IPMAN has reassured the public that the situation will improve soon due to the recent release of petrol to the depots.
Chinedu mentioned that once NNPCL supplies the petrol, marketers will begin loading at full capacity. He said, “NNPC is now receiving products, according to the information we have. Some of these products have been sent to the Port Harcourt and Warri depots. So, any moment now, or by the weekend, they will release their batches, and marketers will start loading fully.”
Earlier, IPMAN Chairman Shino Amoo, in an interview with Channels Television, stated that fuel scarcity could be resolved within three to four days if NNPCL allows marketers to access the products at the depots.
This follows a recent statement by NNPCL spokesperson Olufemi Soneye, confirming that the company is working with stakeholders to address the fuel shortage.
