Popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, known affectionately as K1 De Ultimate, has been placed on a six-month no-fly ban by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). The decision follows a serious incident at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, where K1 allegedly disrupted boarding protocols and obstructed a ValueJet aircraft from taking off.
According to NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, this measure is necessary to uphold aviation safety standards. The musician is now formally blacklisted and barred from commercial flights within Nigeria for half a year. The pilots involved in the same incident have also had their licenses suspended pending a full investigation.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo emphasized that both K1 and the flight crew breached international safety protocols. While K1’s team claimed the flask he was carrying contained water—not alcohol—as widely reported, the main concern remains his decision to block the plane’s taxi path—a behavior deemed unsafe and unacceptable.
The NCAA also confirmed that the musician, despite his closeness to high-ranking officials, is not above the law. They have notified both the Attorney-General and the Inspector-General of Police to ensure legal proceedings follow through.
