The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the recent defections of the Enugu and Bayelsa State governors to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as part of a broader plan to erode Nigeria’s democratic principles.

In a statement released on Monday, the party’s national spokesperson said the defections undermine multi-party democracy and reflect the ruling party’s “desperation to consolidate power at all costs.” The ADC warned that such political maneuvers weaken public confidence in governance and betray the spirit of fair competition.

The party, however, expressed optimism that Nigerians will have the final say in 2027, vowing to mobilize citizens for what it called a “democratic reset” through active participation and accountability-driven leadership.
