Kayode Fayemi, the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, has publicly commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for building upon and consolidating the legacy of his administration. Speaking during a thanksgiving service held in celebration of his 60th birthday, Fayemi stated that he was “very proud” of Oyebanji’s leadership and described him as “a worthy successor” who had advanced the state’s development agenda.
Fayemi highlighted several areas of continuity and progress under the Oyebanji administration, noting especially the completion of road-projects initiated during his own term. He referenced the acceleration of projects like the Agric Olope-Odo Ado-Moferere road and the GRA 3rd Extension road, underscoring that Oyebanji’s decision to keep the original contractors and honour existing commitments was a hallmark of sound governance. He also praised Oyebanji’s inclusive approach, citing his efforts to unite diverse political interests within the state and fostering an environment of stability.
Observers say this kind of endorsement matters politically and administratively in Ekiti State. For one, it signals a smoother hand-over and sustained policy continuity between administrations—something that has been rare in the state’s history.
