The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced a total tax collection of ₦22.59 trillion for 2025, bringing its two-year cumulative revenue to ₦47.39 trillion, a milestone that underscores Nigeria’s accelerating tax reform and digital innovation agenda.
FIRS Chairman Zacch Adedeji said the record performance reflects the success of the agency’s ongoing automation and data-driven compliance initiatives, which have simplified filing, widened the tax net, and reduced leakages. He added that improved coordination with key institutions such as the Nigeria Customs Service and the Corporate Affairs Commission has also boosted non-oil revenue.
Adedeji emphasized that FIRS remains focused on sustaining transparency and efficiency through digital transformation, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s broader fiscal reform plan to strengthen Nigeria’s revenue base and promote long-term economic stability.
