The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has launched the Oil and Gas Field Readiness Programme, an initiative aimed at training 10,000 Nigerians in critical, high-demand technical and professional skills for the energy sector.
Speaking at the launch in Yenagoa, Executive Secretary Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe said the programme aligns with NCDMB’s mandate to deepen local capacity and ensure Nigerians take on more strategic roles in the oil and gas value chain. The training will cover key areas such as instrumentation, welding, safety management, digital operations, and offshore logistics.
Ogbe noted that the initiative is designed to make participants “industry-ready,” bridging the gap between academic qualifications and practical field experience. He added that the programme reflects the federal government’s broader push to drive job creation, innovation, and sustainable participation in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
