Former Governor of Lagos state Akinwunmi Ambode is set to go head to head with the sitting Governor of Lagos state Babajide Sanwo-olu in a battle for the APC Governorship ticket of Lagos state.
Ambode lost the primary election to sanwo-olu having served just one term as governor after falling out of favor with political god-father Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he was replaced by Sanwo-olu.
On October,24 2014. Ambode declared his interest in running for governor of Lagos state, at this time he was famously regarded as the man who has the support of Tinubu which led to him winning the governorship election at that time but like the English proverbs says “the people you always please you cant please always” it was just a matter of time before the favorite son became an out-cast, and one of the many reasons rumored to have been the reason for Ambodes’ fall out with Tinubu and party came in July 2017, when he contracted Visions-cape, an environmental utility company, for waste management services in the state.

Governor Lagos State

Former Governor Lagos State
The contract had put the Lagos private sector partnership (PSP) operators in charge of refuse collection and disposal out of business. The big deal at the time, though, was that those in charge of PSP operations were mostly influential persons at the grassroots, who make up a core part of the APC structure in the state. For this reasons and many more he lost the support of his poltitcal god-father and also that of his party who found a quick replacement in Sanwo-olu.
Another primary election and the former governor is set to reclaim the most priced office in the state.
